This prestige class from Complete Arcane is bad. Not trivial stuff to get immunity too, either. This burst deals ld6 points of fire damage per level of the highest level fire spell you have available to cast. The main thing is that unless you focus on it Rapid Summoning, various feats, Malconvokerthe summon monster spells are pretty underwhelming, which makes the ability to spontaneously cast them of little worth.
Complete Arcane vs. Complete Mage

Practiced Spellcaster is definitely a godsend for most classes namely gishes, and oddly enough Paladins and Rangers magee, but then you get Twin Spell and Precocious Apprentice and Initiate of the Sevenfold Veil which I actually don’t allow in my games.
You can take this feat multiple times. Making Hellfire Warlock part of the base class and providing other similar options for Warlocks whose powers don’t come 3.e5 devils. Complete Mage Feats
You can’t 3.5 from both of these maneuvers or either maneuver more than once in a single round; if you are eligible to use both, choose the one you want. You can apply any one metamagic feat you know to a spell generated by a spell fomplete item such as a wand or staff that you activate. The Mage chooses the kind of familiar he gets. PrC-wise, it has some of the most flavorful and useful PrCs I’ve seen so far.
As long as you have an air spell of 2nd level or higher available to cast, you can attempt to knock a single creature within 30 feet back with a blast of wind.
Specialization and Related Options
Unlike spells per day, the number of spells a Mage knows is not affected by his Intelligence score. Scrolls activated by a warmage also gain no benefit from warmage edge.
But notice that abrupt jaunt is literally strictly superior: Warmage is a really neat class with lots of potential, but that gets shot in the foot because of what it really gains heck, why do you think I made a retooling out of it!?
Each time you take this feat, you choose a new creature type or subtype, in the case of humanoids or outsiders.
You can channel magical energy into orbs of acid. As long as you have a divination spell of 3rd level or higher available to cast, you can sense magical auras as if you had cast detect magic.
Flavorwise, I like CArcane’s weird magic alienist, acolyte of the skin, mahe magus over CMage’s cast-‘n’-blast approach just because it’s different than what’s offered in the other sourcebooks.
