Jude and Callum point their guns at each other, and the story ends as a cliffhanger. Sephy’s development is so linear with the books, its like we know her for real. He realised that he could and in fact did love a cross for who she was and her being a cross xheckmate contribute to her personally.
I’m not sure where Double Cross will take me, but I will find out as it’s next on my list to read. However by keeping her at arms length Sephy fractured their relationship really badly. I don’t know how I’ll get my hands on the fourth, but I tell you now, I will. Callie became cold and hateful and turned against her mother.
It meant I could watch her, drink her in without her protest. Sephy is overjoyed to find that Callum is in her class after helping him pass the entrance examination. There didn’t seem to be any motivation for her actions.

The prejudice that is explored in the previous books continues to be identified. Such a gripping tale, I literally couldn’t put this down. Tobey is offered the chance to earn some ready money just making a few ‘deliveries’ after he is introduced by a friend, Dan, who works for McAuley. I give Checkmate 5 out of 5 stars You really need to read checkmatd books!
He puts a great deal of money in Byron Sweet, one of McAuley’s minions, to frame him as a traitor. He then hears Sephy shouting, ‘I love you’. I suppose he was slightly in the sense that he finally realised that Cara Imega was his ultimate maorie, despite being a cross.

View all 3 comments. I didn’t get the reason why Jude was using Callie, I mean she is his own brother’s only child. Jude leaves just as the ambulance arrives, with a new plan in mind. Book in the series: Malorie has also been shortlisted for the Carnegie Blackan, and in she was honoured with the Eleanor Farjeon Award in recognition of her contribution to children’s books.
As best friends, their relationship is frowned upon by society, like interracial blwckman in the Southern United States before the Civil Rights Movement but in reverse, as dark skin is considered much better to have than light skin. Tobey wants no part of the world of gangs but makes an exception for once.
But then it was to get to know more about Meggie and Jasmine and I complained no more.

Callie Rose starts dating Lucas, a cross who is an ex-friend’s brother. Dan ends up on the run. There’s another book and the blurb for that book also confuses me I highly recommend not reading the blurb for ‘Doublecross’.
