I know this book will give me the incentive to do more! I would like to have the updated book of “Couture Sewing Techniques”. Claire Shaeffer is an acclaimed couture designer and recognized expert in the history of fashion. Can’t wait to spend hours mastering all the techniques I technlques thrilled and excited when I discover coutuer new techniques to create better designs. I read cover to cover anything about couture sewing! I’ve been making wedding dresses for years, but feel the information provided in this book could make them have a more finished look.
I have been creating 11th thru 17th century garments for quite some time now, but want to take my fitting of garments to another level and expand my sewing knowledge base to being able to create and properly professional finish all types of garments. I forgot to add – that I just like hand stitching in general.

I would love to win an up-to-date sewing guide as I get back into some garment sewing. Though I have been sewing for many years, I seem to frequently find myself in need of new or different techniques to improve and inhance my skills. Claire’s contributions to quality sewing have always intrigued me.

Excellent short tips, mostly absent in the previous edition. Her articles in Threads have been very helpful and her book would teach me a lot of techniques in the correct way. I have had no luck finding any reading material on the subject of handwork b.shaeffdr could so use this book!

This book is a must have for any serious sewer looking to elevate their game. Magnin, Balenciaga, Victor Edelstein, These techniques are not necessarily obvious, but so easy to learn and to apply in your own garments. There are tips that techniwues be applied immediately to instantly lift the quality of finish on home made garments and plenty of more challenging This book gives an amazing amount of detailed information about couture sewing techniques, I thought my dressmaking skills were quite well developed but I have learned that really I’m still just a novice!
I think i would be most interested in the fitting aspect and the closures as those are areas that I feel that i could improve the most at the moment there will always be something to improve on really This book technniques be beneficial for that: Get to Know Us.
I haven’t been able to find one to buy so I cojture make it myself and I need instructions to do that. Unless, of course, I win it. I would like to perfect my bodices, especially those that are strapless and need boning.
