Jul 16, Kelly rated it did not like it. Darcy leaves Netherfield and he and Elizabeth do not meet again for some time. Pretty good stuff, but completely different and not coming close to touching Austen.
Deber y deseo() : Pamela Aidan :
Aidan seems to think differently. Darcy did not learn his lesson before Hunsford but Georgiana was working on him while he sought entertainment to banish Elizabeth from his thoughts. In the story, Darcy decided he needs to search for a suitable wife to distract him from the thoughts of Elizabeth.
I did find myself liking Georgiana and her recovery from Wickham’s betrayal a lot, though; very believable and well done. This is a completly new story of his time trying to dbeer over Elizabeth and I absolutly loved it.
Jul 11, Mina Lobo rated it really liked it. This was not Darcy’s greatest moment in dseo opinion and a large lart of the book I could have easily foregone. Throw in his funny and far too perceptive valet Fletcher, and you’ll fly through this book. This book was so off the mark compared to the first in the series!
Some people I have heard didn’t like the mystery or Gothic theme of the second half of the book but Dsber am not one of their number. Pamela Aidan’s trilogy finally answers that long-standing question, creating “There was little danger of encountering the Bennet sisters ever again.

desfo But, actually kind of amusing I must mention though that Elizabeth only appeared in this book in Mr Darcy’s mind. Darcy and his family and friends. Thanks for telling us about the problem.
Sembra all’improvviso che questa storia si sia trasformata in un prequel dei romanzi di Carrie Bebris La desfo inicial es sencilla: I didn’t like the whole section when he meets up with his old Oxford classmates, especially the mystery surrounding Lady Sylvanie.
Another reviewer noted this was a bit of Gothic farce, in the way of Northanger Abbey – this did not turn me off as it did that reader.
I don’t like any of the characters at the house party. Religion plays a bigger role as the novel progresses. Several times, Fletcher lets slip comments that clearly indicate pamrla he already is sure that Elizabeth Bennet should be Darcy’s wife My guess is the author is trying to show that the “unpolished” society of the country pales in comparison to the level of dysfuction of the high ranking gentry and aristocracy, though it didn’t feel like the character himself pmela that connection.
Jun 12, Ledys rated it it was amazing Shelves: Aidan could easily have only written TWO novels and condensed the “action” of this time period to keep the story zidan Even though it is the second book in the “Fitzwillaim Darcy, Gentleman” trilogy, nothing important happens in “Duty and Desire.
Visiting Norwycke Castle, with wife hunting in mind, he got a lot more than he bargained for. Bringing him to his visit to Norwycke Castle. I was happy to see Colonel Fitzwilliam comes into this book early and love him and Darcy’s banter. The first book in the series covers Pride and Prejudice through the Netherfield Ball and Christmas of that year.
To me, the two do not fit. Mar 21, Katie rated it really liked it. Todo esto a mi juicio se ha ido de las manos y este libro sobre, es un relleno demasiado evidente y que consigue ser una historia aburrida.

Colonel Fitzwilliam comes off as pompous and a bit jealous of his older brother, not at all the “convivial fellow” constructed by Austen. Aside from Darcy’s inability to forget Elizabeth, and his treasuring of a bookmark Elizabeth had left in a novel she’s been reading during her stay at Netherfield, there is not much to recommend this second installment of the trilogy.
Return to Book Page. Darcy as a rich socialite by day and Sherlock Holmes by night. A teaser quote selected from this book by the publishers is this: He is a Darcy!
Lists with This Book. Also, I happen to enjoy Gothic farce. I finished this book out of faithful loyalty to reading the complete trilogy, and those all-to-brief moments when Darcy reflected on his feelings for Elizabeth.
Much as he tried, he could not shake her memory, and if nothing else the book served to Some reviewers expressed dissatisfaction with the second book in Aidan’s trilogy and, if they wished to experience more interaction with Lizzy Bennett in it, that would have led to disappointment. I loved Darcy and Fletcher’s relationship and how they sometimes talk to each other in quotes from Shakespeare.
This book takes a very Gothic turn when Darcy visits Norwycke Castle the home of his school fellow. Anyway, I can only recommend this book if it amuses you to read silly melodrama. Feb 05, Melissa rated it it was amazing.
